Pool Motor Supply started in 2012 with one goal: fix pool equipment at fair prices. Too many pool owners were being sold expensive pump replacements when a simple motor repair would have solved the problem.

He called me and he took me step by step troubleshooting what he thought was the problem with my pool.  15 minutes later he, along with his assistant (me), had the problem fixed and he didn’t charge me a dime! Why should I replace just the motor instead of the whole pump?

Most of the time, your pump housing is still in good shape. The motor is what actually breaks down – it runs every day, all year long. When we replace just the motor, you keep your existing pump body and plumbing connections. This costs a few hundred dollars less than a complete pump replacement. We test everything to make sure the pump housing does not have cracks or damage. If the housing is bad, we will tell you and recommend a full replacement.

How much does a pool motor repair or replacement cost?

Every job is different because motors come in different sizes and horsepower ratings. We give you a free estimate after looking at your equipment. The price we quote includes the parts and labor – no hidden fees added later. Most motor replacements cost significantly less than replacing the entire pump system. Are your technicians actually licensed?

Yes. Our technicians hold Texas TDLR License #694. This is a state license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. It means we meet the requirements for doing electrical and mechanical work on pool equipment. We also carry insurance. You can verify our license number with the state if you want.

How long does a motor replacement take?

Most motor replacements take 1 to 2 hours once we are on site. If we need to order a specific part, that can add a day or two. We offer same day service in most cases when we have the motor in stock. The actual work goes pretty fast because this is all we do.

How do I know if my motor needs repair or replacement?

If your pump hums but does not start, it might just need a capacitor – that is a cheap repair. If the motor is not making any noise at all, or if it smells like burning, it probably needs replacement. If the motor is really old and has been repaired before, replacement usually makes more sense than another repair. We will check everything and tell you honestly what makes the most sense for your situation and your budget.
